If there is a person who stands for music and life that person is Usha Uthup. Vivacious, warm, with a distinct sense of style and a smile that always lights up her eyes, Usha Uthup has been much more to Kolkata than just her music. She was not only conferred the Padma Shri Award in 2011, she is also the only musician in the world to have been invited to the canonisation of Mother Teresa at the Vatican City. Usha Uthup had been closely associated with Mother Teresa and it was she who taught her the need to spread peace and acknowledge and appreciate the endeavours of all.
The singer who’s been popular through generations and has sung in more than 13 Indian languages and eight foreign languages has been working on various causes close to her heart. She has worked for Missionaries of Charity, Spastics Association, School for the Blind and she has always been the first to perform in Charity shows organised for the victims of Tsunami or Alia.

He is also the Governing Body Member of Stagecraft Foundation, an initiative of Ms Usha Uthup, working as a knowledge platform for the craftsmen working behind the stage.
